Wilshire Law Firm is offering a biannual scholarship of $1,000 to law school or undergraduate college students interested in studying law. Students who have demonstrated both academic excellence and a commitment to the community should be encouraged and assisted in their dream of working in the legal field.

Short Description:  The team at Colorado Legal Group wants to support the next generation of leaders in law and help grow the future in the legal society.  In a short essay please answer the following question: “Why are you applying to law school and why do you want to pursue a career in the legal profession?”

Eligibility Requirements

In order for students to participate in this scholarship contest, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be currently attending a Canadian or American University or College during and enrolled in any undergraduate program
  • Submit an online submission for a chosen topic via email and provide their Name, Address, Phone Number and Proof of Enrollment
  • Must provide the essay submission attached (as a .docx) to their application email
  • Application deadline is May 30, 2019

Name of Scholarship: Lakin Afolabi Law Future Criminal Lawyer Scholarship

Award: $1,000

Short Description:  Lakin Afolabi and his criminal defence team would like to welcome students who are thinking or already interested in pursuing a legal education in the next 5 years and demonstrate their passion in criminal justice with the following scholarship topic essay: “Should the presumption of innocence continue to apply in the #metoo era? Why or why not? (Minimum 500 words)

Shirley E. Howes Educational Award (Jan 24, 2019 deadline)

The Shirley E. Howes Educational Award is specific to Soroptimist International of Canton/Stark County, and honors the effort and scholarship of a woman attending a college or university to earn a certification, baccalaureate, masters or doctoral degree in Accounting, Finance, or Law-related fields. Women from the Northeast Ohio area ages 18 and older of all income levels are eligible to apply. Judging is based on four areas: effort toward education, scholarship, extracurricular activities and financial need.  Neither Soroptimists nor family members of Soroptimists may apply.
