IPTLA – Chinese vs. U.S. Patent Systems – Nov. 11, 6:15 pm, W-214

IPTLA will be holding a meeting on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at 6:15pm in room W-214. The presenter will be Professor Li Chen. Li will be speaking about the Chinese patent system and how is compares to the U.S. patent system. Li is a register patent agent in China and currently is a PhD candidate here at the University of Akron in the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department. Li also works with the University of Akron in providing prior art patent searches for new technologies that are developed at the University of Akron. Come and enjoy this opportunity to network and get to know other students that are interested in intellectual property law. Food will be provided.

IPTLA – IP Small Firm and Solo Practice Lifestyle – Nov. 2, 6:15, W-210

IPTLA will be holding a meeting on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at 6:15pm in room W-214. Ed Sisson will speak on the topic of Small Firm and Solo Practitioner IP Lifestyle. The needs and requirements of a small firm or solo practitioner environment are significantly different in some aspects and very similar in others to those in a large firm.

Mr. Sisson advises customers in all aspects of the business and intellectual property process from patent and trademark procurement to third party agreements such as tolling and licensing. Mr. Sisson was the Intellectual Property Manager for the M&G Group of Companies, prior to starting his own firm. Mr. Sisson is also an inventor in his own right with multiple patents and pending applications.
