ALLSA – Chips and ALLSA Charity Poker Tournament, Nov. 2nd, 3 pm, Student Lounge

 Come Play Poker with ALLSA! In order to play, the suggested donation is $10 (proceeds to benefit the Battered Women’s Shelter)

 You will get to play with fellow students, professors and staff. We will also have prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. We have great prizes including a special prize donated by Professor Carro.

 So, come out, play poker and have fun with ALLSA!

BLSA will be having a general body meeting Tuesday, October 16th at 12:20pm W-214 and 5:15pm W-209. Come learn about our exciting schedule filled with trips, networking events, and community service events. We will also discuss the membership process. All students are welcome and encouraged to join. Food will be provided!!!

Please join the ACLU in a riveting presentation on “Prisoners’ Rights” TODAY, October 11. Guest speaker Carlos Warner will be discussing his involvement in Guantanamo Bay cases. There will also be a session for questions to ask about the rights all prisoners in America have and which ones are being refused. The event will be held in room W-210 at 12:15PM.

There will be a meeting of the Akron Criminal Justice Society (ACJS) today at 12:15 in L-134 to discuss the raffle for next week.  We encourage you to come prepared with ideas of how to conduct the raffle and times of when you can sit to sell tickets. We will also discuss membership dues.

Akron Law Student Bar Association will be hosting a kick-it tournament on October 27,  from 12:00 to 4:00 at Buchtel Fields. Kick-It was founded by a 10-year old cancer patient with a big dream- to cure cancer by playing kickball. Now a national fundraising program, Kick-it raises money for pediatric, adolescent and young adult cancer research. Funds raised benefit children’s cancer research across the country. Kick-it partners with national medical advisory boards to identify the most promising research studies and projects.

Sign up sheets will be posted outside of the SBA office.  There is a $10 per player fee and this money will go to the kick-it organization in order to continue funding cancer research.  We welcome everyone to come out and showcase your kickball skills!  Food and drinks will be provided.  We encourage you to bring a friend, and organize a team with clever law related names.  A few classic teams from the past have been the Tortfeasors and Uncivil procedures. We look forward to seeing everyone out on Buchtel filed having fun and doing something for a great cause at the same time!
