Please join the GSLA in celebration of National Coming Out Day. We will be selling bags of candy as well as pre-sale tickets for our upcoming Benefit Drag Show (with proceeds going to The Trevor Project) that will take place on Oct, 19th.

Please join the ACLU in a riveting presentation on “Prisoners’ Rights” on October 11. Guest speaker Carlos Warner will be discussing his involvement in Guantanamo Bay cases. There will also be a session for questions to ask about the rights all prisoners in America have and which ones are being refused. The event will be held in room W-210 at 12:15PM.

Please join the the Black Law Students Association to take a photograph symbolically bringing awareness to the importance of the outcome of the Fisher v. University of Texas case. Students of ALL races and ethnicities are invited and encouraged to participate in our efforts. This case challenges the use of race as one of many factors considered in admissions policies in institutions of higher education. The Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on Wednesday, October 10, 2012.

The Midwest Region of the National Black Law Students Association urges you to GET ON THE BUS!

This Wednesday, Oct. 10^th the Supreme Court will reconsider the constitutionality of race-conscious admissions programs known to many as “affirmative action.”  We are calling for all students and concerned community members throughout the Midwest to stand with us at the University of Michigan, the school where the Supreme Court last upheld the constitutionality of affirmative action, in solidarity with the rally being held at the U.S. Supreme Court.  We cannot let this important decision be made without making our voices heard.  YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A BLSA MEMBER TO PARTICIPATE, THERE IS NO CHARGE, AND ALL ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND. 

When: Wednesday, October 10, 2012 | 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Where: University of Michigan – Ann Arbor |  North Diag

Buses from Chicago, IL; South Bend, IN; Indianapolis, IN; Cleveland, OH; Lansing, MI; and Detroit, MI will transport students to and from Ann Arbor, MI for the rally.  There is no cost to attend.  Departure times and locations are below.  Please click here to reserve your space on the bus.  Upon submission of your reservation, you will receive a letter to share with your professors to assist you with requesting an excused absence from class.
