Important Building Announcements

Building Hours/Access

First, we are changing our building hours to 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please note that these are just the hours that the doors are unlocked; you will still have 24/7 access by using your ZIPCard to access Door Number 1 (the card reader is on a separate post in front of the door on the left). Door Number 1 is to the left of the entrance we used this past year—that entrance is now locked. For those of you who are taking classes this summer, please be sure that you keep your ZIPCard with you if you happen to step outside during breaks.

The University of Akron: A Smoke-Free and Tobacco-Free Campus

As you may have heard, The University of Akron—in keeping with its goal of being a healthy and respectful campus—is becoming a completely smoke-free and tobacco-free campus beginning on July 1. This means that the use of any product that contains tobacco or nicotine is prohibited on all University grounds, including in vehicles parked on University grounds. This prohibition applies to all on campus, including faculty, staff, students, and visitors.

The University has a website available where you can learn more about the upcoming change and about the University’s offerings for students and employees who wish to quit smoking or using tobacco. You can learn more at http://uakron.edu/tobacco-free. If you wish to smoke, you are welcome to do so on sidewalks on public streets (although the University requests that, to remain good neighbors with our community, you refrain from tobacco use in the areas adjacent to University property). The map below is of the nearest location to the law building where you would be permitted to smoke.

Please contact Dean Fuller or Dean Oldfield if you have any questions.

Scholarship Opportunity

The Reeves Law Group is offering a scholarship to future law students in their senior undergrad year, and students currently in law school. Each year, The Reeves Law Group awards a scholarship to a deserving student and future lawyer who delivers a winning presentation or authors a winning essay in our annual scholarship contest. This year’s scholarship award amount is $3000.

We ask the students to tell us about their genuine desire and goal of using the legal system to fix problems or improve conditions in our society. Last year we had a wonderful response. This year we have increased our scholarship award amount and would like to give more students the opportunity to participate.
