Academic Success Program in Transition – Interim Co-Directors in place

Late last semester, Academic Success Program Director Katherine Silver Kelly resigned to take a similar position at The Ohio State University. We immediately initiated a search for her replacement. We hope to have a new Director in place by March 1, 2012.

Several students have expressed interest in the future of the program. We have involved those students in the search process as their schedules have permitted.

In the interim, the Academic Success Program office is open. The office is staffed by the library in the mornings and on Tuesday afternoons. You may continue to obtain materials from the ASP library, and the ASP Mentors and Assistants will continue their work.

Professor Steven Cook and Adjunct Professor Kani Hightower have agreed to serve as Interim Co-Directors of the Academic Success Program. Please see them if you have concerns about your academic work or if you want to enhance your academic progress.

          Professor Cook will be in the ASP office on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons. Steven4@uakron.edu

          Professor Hightower will be in the ASP office on Thursday afternoons. Khh1@uakron.edu

You may also see Assistant Dean Thorpe about any aspect of the law school experience.

In particular, if you have questions about your schedule, the credits needed to graduate, or the design of your academic program, you should see Dean Thorpe.

If you have questions regarding graduation requirements and credit hours earned/to be completed, please:

(1) Consult your DARS report on ZipLine;

(2)  Complete the courtesy graduation audit check sheet for your entering class on the Student Services page;

(3)  Refer to your Law Student Handbook which is also on the Student Services page;  and

(4) If you are still uncertain as to whether or not you are on track to graduate, please email your specific question to College Program Specialist Liz Sauders at liz@uakron.edu.     Dean Thorpe can also assist you, but you should start with Ms. Sauders to quickly assess and resolve your situation.    If your situation is complicated, you can schedule a meeting with Dean Thorpe by emailing her at LThorpe@uakron.edu

If you have any concerns about the Academic Success Program, please see or contact Associate Dean Jordan, Jordan@uakron.edu.
