SELS – ‘Legal Perspectives of the Entertainment Industry’ – 9/17/12 at 12:20pm

The Sports & Entertainment Law Society will be hosting the event “Legal Perspectives of the Entertainment Industry” this Monday, Sept. 17^th, at 12:20 in room W-214.

Local attorney David Thomas will provide insight on his experience in the field of Entertainment Law and also answer any questions. Mr. Thomas has detailed experience in film production negotiations, intellectual property, licensing, distribution deals, and various other areas.

This will be a great opportunity for anyone interested in Sports or Entertainment Law to get a practical idea of what the legal work entails!

Copyright Law and Scanning Casebooks

Last year the Law Library added a public photocopier which does photocopying in black and white or color. It also does scanning which can be downloaded to a thumb drive. Copying is 7 cents for black and white and 20 cents for color.

In using this photocopier one is required to follow the U.S. laws regarding copyright. Generally scanning a law school casebook to a thumb drive and then distributing copies of the digital image would violate the law. Such scanning and distribution by a law student could be grounds for a honor code violation. If you have any questions about what is permissible to do using the Law Library’s photocopier please contact one of the librarians.

ACJ General Meeting – 9/12/12 – 12:15pm

Come join the Akron Criminal Justice Society today 9/12 for our first General Meeting of the school year. The meeting will be held in Room 167 at the Law School from 12:15-1. We plan to discuss the future of ACJS, our annual trip, fundraising events, and more! Food will be provided, and we look forward to meeting all of our new members!

ASP Workshop: Outlining (Linear & Non-Linear)

The Office of Academic Success will be offering a workshop next week on how to outline your legal classes. If you are would like a bit of guidance with figuring out what you are supposed to put into an outline and how, this is the workshop for you! These events will be held in Room 301 (3rd floor of the Library) on 9/18 (5pm-6pm) and 9/19 (1:10 pm-2:10pm). Please join us for helpful tips on surviving your first semester in law school!
