Annual Law School Thanksgiving Dinner

The Law Dean’s Office will provide ALL food including:

turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, candied sweet potatoes, green beans, creamy cole slaw, cranberry sauce, cheese ball and crackers and a variety of pies and desserts.

WHEN:     Monday, November 21, 2011 . . .5:00 to 6:30 p.m.

WHERE:      Buffet tables will be in the law school hallway stretching between Rooms 165 and 151.

Last Minute Help Needed for Legal Aid Society of Cleveland tomorrow!

The Legal Aid Sociey of Cleveland is in need of a  few volunteers for tomorrow’s brief advice clinic at West Side Catholic Center (3135 Lorain Ave. Cleveland) from 9:30 – 12:00 pm.  If you are able to attend please let Attorney Lauren Gilbride know and she will provide you with volunteer information. This will be the last Brief Advice Clinic of the year and counts toward your Pro Bono/Limited Means requirement. Thanks!

The Virginia Wagner Award Opportunity

The Soroptimist International of Canton/Stark County again this year is offering the Virginia Wagner Award to aid a student in undergraduate or graduate school.  This program fulfills one of Soroptimist’s goals . . . “to strive for human rights for all people, and, in particular, to advance the status of women.”

The Virginia Wagner Award winner is eligible for a cash award of First place – $550 and Second place – $500 from the local club.  The local club winner is eligible for an additional award if they are the first place winner in the region.

The following weighted guidelines are used in selecting a winner:

  1. Scholarship (Weight 15)
  2. Extra Curricular Activities (Weight 15)
  3. Financial need (Weight 15)
  4. Effort Toward Education (Weight 35)
  5. General Impression (Weight 20)

Judicial Intern Opportunity Program for minority and economically disadvantaged law students – further info in CPPO

Judicial Intern Opportunity Program: The American Bar Association Section of Litigation is pleased to announce its Summer 2012 Judicial Intern Opportunity Program. The program is a full-time, six week minimum summer internship program open to all first or second year minority and/or economically disadvantaged law students. Applications for second year students are currently being accepted, and applications for first year students will be accepted beginning December 1st. The deadline to apply for the Program is January 6, 2012. Selected students will be given an opportunity to intern for six or more weeks during the summer with a participating state or federal judge. Lake Erie Monsters Hockey Game – Complimentary Ticket from CPPO!

The CPPO invites you to join your fellow law students and cheer on the Lake Erie Monsters as they take on the San Antonio Rampage next Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 7:00 PM at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.
