Possible law clerk opportunity for 3rd or 4th year part-time student

The CPPO has learned that a suburban Portage County law firm might be looking to hire a 3rd or 4th year part-time law student as a law clerk for 20-30 hours per week. The firm is trying to determine if there is interest among our law students and has asked us to collect resumes for them to review.

If you would like to be considered for the possible position, please e-mail your resume by Wednesday, October 26 at 12 noon to Director of Career Planning, Barbara Weinzierl at bcw@uakron.edu. In the subject line of your e-mail, please write “Portage County Law Clerk position”.

Career Planning Presents: “A Day in the Life of . . .” series

The CPPO and the Akron Bar Association Liaison Committee present: “A Day in the Life Of…” Series

Each workshop in this new series will be held at the law school and will consist of a small discussion group of 10 law students and a local attorney who specializes in a certain area of law. This intimate and informal setting will allow law students to get their questions answered about a particular job or type of practice and to engage in conversations with local attorneys in varying fields.

The first workshop in this series, “A Day in the Life of a Criminal Defense Attorney”, will take place on Wednesday, November 9th at 5:15 p.m. in Room 133 with Attorney Michael Callahan, former Akron Municipal Court Judge, Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge and Summit County Prosecutor, who will speak to law students about his career and offer insight into life as a prosecuting attorney and judge. This event is only open to the first 10 students to  RSVP to Jeanne Kennedy at Jeanne2@uakron.edu by Wednesday, November 2nd at Noon. Students will be notified by the CPPO if they are participating. Be sure to RSVP early for this exciting new workshop series! Also, stay tuned for the next workshop in our series!
