Attention Class of 2012 — Third District Court of Appeals of Ohio seeks judicial law clerks

The CPPO has learned that the Court of Appeals of Ohio, Third Appellate District, in Lima is seeking three full-time Judicial Law Clerks, beginning August 2012. The salary is $54,000 annually. Applicants must be 2012 graduates. Top 1/3 preferred. To apply, send resume, law school transcript,  short writing sample (15 pages or less)  and a descriptive one page cover letter outlining why you are interested in the position, how you will be an asset to the Court and any additional information that would help the Court in making its hiring decision. Update on Equal Justice Works Career Fair

Register Today for the 2011 Equal Justice Works Conference and Career Fair – CPPO to pay registration fee

2011 Equal Justice Works Conference and Career FairOctober 21 & 22, 2011 – Washington Marriott Wardman Park; 2660 Woodley Road, NW; Washington, DC 20008.  The Equal Justice Works annual Conference and Career Fair is the largest public interest career fair in the country. It is the only event, solely dedicated to law students, where you’ll find more than 1000 public interest-minded students representing 200 law schools from across the country coming together to explore career options with leading nonprofit organizations and government agencies.  The Conference and Career Fair provides access to job opportunities for law students; connects employers with talented attorneys and law students; and offers a multitude of skill-building and career advising sessions with experts from around the country.

The Career Planning and Placement Office will pay the $25.00 registration fee for each registered student. Please e-mail Jeanne Kennedy in the CPPO (jeanne2@uakron.edu) by Thursday, September 15 at 12 noon if you plan to register.  Once you have submitted your profile and saved your registration for the event, a credit card payment page will appear. DO NOT fill out any information on this page. Simply log out of the database. You will receive a confirmation email when your registration fee has been waived and your registration is finalized.

Bar Exam Review Course Fellowship

Bar Exam Review Course Fellowship 

If you will be graduating in January and taking the February 2012 bar exam or graduating in May and taking the July 2012 bar exam in any state and have or plan to register for a commercial bar review course, please complete and submit the Bar Exam Review Course Fellowship form found at http://www.uakron.edu/dotAsset/2202517.pdf .     Then, you will need to submit this form at your exit interview with the Career Planning Office.

The bar review fee of $25 per 9200:600 level series law school credit was only charged during the fall 2010 and spring 2011 semesters.    Students who meet the criteria specified on the Bar Exam Review Course Fellowship form found at http://www.uakron.edu/dotAsset/2202517.pdf will receive exactly what they paid into the bar fee program.

Fellowship payments will be processed as early as November 1 for February bar takers and by April 1 for July bar takers.
