2010 CLASS GIFT

Each year, members of the graduating class contribute funds to begin their legacy as Akron Law alumni and to memorialize their class.

The class of 2010 would like to provide a lasting remembrance of Professor Malina Coleman who passed away in the fall of 2009.

The specific commemorative item will depend on how much each graduating student contributes.

If each 2010 class member donates $20, we will be able to commission an oil portrait of Professor Coleman (similar to the portraits of the prominent people currently displayed on the first and second floors of the atrium) with an inscription recognizing the Class of 2010.

This relatively small contribution will enable your class to donate such a distinctive gift due to Dean Belsky’s generous offer to match each donation up to $150.  Thus, by donating $20 you will have actually contributed $40!

Further, if you donate $20 now, and pledge to donate $50 in 2011 and $80 in 2012, Dean Belsky will presently match your pledged donation up to $150.  This means that if you agree to pledge $150 over a three-year period you will see an immediate doubling of your donation.

Even if you cannot commit to a pledge or currently donate the full $20, please feel free to contribute what you can so that you can be part of this legacy.

If your donation (in any amount) is received in the Dean’s Office by Friday, April 30th, your name will be featured in the commencement packet.  The names of all 2010 Class Members who have donated will also be featured in the Fall 2010 edition of Akron Law, our alumni magazine.

OASP and Sum and Substance Rules Change Today

The circulation period and overdue fines for OASP and Sum and Substance materials will change April 23 and continue through the end of the semester. These materials will circulate for only 24 hours (instead of 72) and no renewals will be allowed.  Overdue fines for these materials will increase from $1.00 per day to $5.00 per day.

These changes provide access to the materials for a greater number of students. If you have questions regarding these changes please stop by the Circulation Desk and ask to speak with Ms. Floyd or Ms. Nevins.
