City of Barberton volunteer opportunity – community service limited means hours

The City of Barberton participates in the Continuum of Care Coalition for Summit County. Every year this group organizes a “point-in-time” count. This is a count on a single day of the people in a community who are experiencing homelessness that includes both sheltered and non-sheltered populations.

Volunteers are needed to complete street counts and counts at meal sites. The count will take place on January 29th, 2019. Shifts are available for morning, lunch, and evening. Training will take place to prepare you on January 22, 2019 and January 24, 2019.

Donations are also needed to give to the homeless. The following items are being requested: socks, gloves, scarves, hats, snack items and protein food items. Donations can be dropped off at United Way, 37 N High Street, Akron, Ohio 44311. Last day of donation drop off is January 24th, 2019.

If you would like to volunteer or would like additional information, please contact Joe Scalise, 330-315-0415 or at jscalise@uwsummit.org.
