Tuesday, February 16,  6:30 – 8:00:  MPT Exam Simulation

Buckingham 101 – Food and casual conversation starting @ 6 PM

Every year, a few foolhardy souls never get around to writing any MPT essays until the morning of the first day of the bar exam.  That doesn’t usually end well.  Take advantage of the opportunity to write an MPT essay under exam conditions before February 23 (or July 26 – for those of you taking the July bar exam).

Essential Legal Concepts

Akron Law’s free ESSENTIAL LEGAL CONCEPTS (ELC) workshop series is designed to help prepare you for the upcoming bar exams.  The workshops will help you understand what to expect from the bar exam and will provide you with essential skills needed to effectively study for the Ohio Bar exam.  It is being taught by Adjunct Professor Joann Leong, a judicial clerk in the 9th District Court of Appeals.  Professor Leong has also worked reviewing essays for BarBri, and as a private bar tutor, for several years.

Akron Law strongly encourages your enrollment in this workshop.  It is not designed to replace any bar exam preparation course you are taking, but rather as a supplement.

The remaining two workshops will be held on the following days from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m in L-301.

Saturday, February 20 – Focus on the Multistate Bar Exam (multiple choice)

Saturday, February 27 – Focus on the Multistate Performance Test (90 minute, closed universe question)

(You will benefit from the last two classes, even if you were unable to attend the first two – sign up here)

Tuesday, February 9,  6:30 – 8:00:  MPT Outlining Strategies

Buckingham 101 – Food and casual conversation starting @ 6 PM

The concept of an MPT is easy – you don’t need to know anything other than how to write like a lawyer.  The execution – not so easy.  The outlining technique taught in this workshop allows you to organize and write your essay in the 90 minute time frame.  [Similar to ALA class, updated with less formal outline techniques]

Buckingham 101 – Food and casual conversation starting at 5:30

How to prepare for, and survive, your mind blanking out at the most inopportune time.  The rule-making techniques will help you survive the ultimate failure, as well as improving your rule stack for the majority of the time when you remember the rules.

Bar Exam Multiple Choice Strategies Workshop – Thursday

 Thursday, February 4, 5:30 – 8:00:  MBE Strategies and Tactics – Buckingham 101

An interactive workshop on multiple choice strategies.  Practice with questions released by the NCBE to help you eliminate wrong answers, avoid being misled by sneaky tricks,  and choose between the two remaining choices.  Beyond the interactive practice, you will receive a compilation of strategies compiled from  multiple sources.  [This workshop is similar to the Fall 2015 ALA MBE strategies lecture – but significantly different from earlier ALA classes.]   These Academic Success Workshops are designed for students and alumni preparing for the February bar exam, but are also open to students and alumni preparing for the July bar exam, space permitting.

Food and casual conversation from 5:30 – 6:00.  The formal workshop will run approximately an hour and a half, beginning at 6:00.  Please sign up here so I know how much food to order!
