February or July 2016 Bar Exam? Save the Date!

Are you Taking the February or July 2016 Bar Exam?
Save the dates for a bar prep workshop series.

Akron Law expects to offer a free workshop series called ESSENTIAL LEGAL CONCEPTS (ELC) to help prepare you for the upcoming bar exams.  The workshop will focus on your understanding of the bar exam and provide you with essential skills needed to effectively study for the Ohio Bar exam.  Akron Law strongly encourages your enrollment in this workshop.  It is not designed to replace any bar exam preparation course you are taking, but rather to be a supplement.

The workshops are expected to be held on the following days from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Saturday, February 6 – Introduction to the Ohio Bar Exam

Saturday, February 13 – Focus on the Ohio Essay Exam

Saturday, February 20 – Focus on the Multistate Bar Exam

Saturday, February 27 – Focus on the Multistate Performance Test

February examinees are invited to attend the first  three sessions.

Contact Nancy Reeves at nlr22@uakron.edu for access

*If you are a current student and not taking the Ohio bar, the course may not be designed for your specific bar exam, but you are still welcome to participate.

Ohio Bar Exam locations: February 2016 & July 2016

From the Supreme Court:

The February 2016 exam will be held at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.  The exam will be held February 23-25, 2016, in Battelle Hall at the convention center.

The July 2016 exam will be held July 26-28, 2016, at the Roberts Centre next to I-71 at Rt. 68.  As you are all now aware, the center is located between Columbus and Cincinnati on I-71.  The center is also located very near Wilmington, Ohio.  Parking at the Roberts Centre is free.

Now that the sites have been announced, Akron will begin working on finding hotel room blocks for Akron Law.  Rooms in these blocks are typically available through the end of the  month before the exam, at a discount.  An announcement will be made, once we have reserved room blocks.

If you want to stay on site at the Roberts Center for the July bar exam, you should reserve a room immediately.  The telephone number for the Holiday Inn is 937-283-3200 (locally) or 1-800-654-7036.  Those rooms were all taken within a couple of hours last year, once the site was announced.

Be aware, though, that you may not have access to the Holiday Inn on-site wi-fi parts of the day before the exam – you may want to ask when you make reservations, if this is important to you.  (The Supreme Court contract with the Roberts Centre in July requred that the wi-fi be shut off until 5 PM the day BEFORE the exam – so some students who arrived early could not access their online study tools.)
