  • Family members/supporting friends panel discussion about the bar exam experience.  You are invited to bring anyone who will be supporting you as you prepare for the bar exam to hear about what to expect, from others who have been through it.  (Depending on interest, and how many family members I can recruit, this panel may be merged with the alumni panel.)

If you plan to take the Ohio Bar Exam in February 2016, this is for you!

Your application must be at the Supreme Court of Ohio offices by November 2, 2015.

Part of your application is your Character Certificate, provided by the School of Law.  If you have not yet requested your Character Certificate, you must do so right away by emailing Mary Cooke at mec@uakron.edu.

If you plan to take another state’s bar exam, please email Mary (mec@uakron.edu) that information as well.

Substance Abuse Lecture is Today

Reminder that our Fall semester Substance Abuse Lecture is Today: Thursday, 9/24, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in Law School Room 165.

Attend today to complete this requirement regardless of your year in law school. Graduating students please plan to attend if you have not yet attended a substance abuse lecture and plan to take the Ohio Bar exam.  Free substance abuse lectures are offered to the entire law student body only ONCE during the fall semester and ONCE during the spring semester.  The Ohio Office of Bar Admissions requires all students to take a one-hour substance abuse lecture during law school.

Absolutely no admittance after 5:30 pm – please arrive early to record your attendance.

SUPREME COURT RULES FOR THE GOVERNMENT OF THE BAR OF OHIO
A certificate from a law school or a continuing legal education sponsor, certifying that the applicant has received at least one hour of instruction on substance abuse, including causes, prevention, detection, and treatment alternatives. Substance abuse instruction that is provided by a continuing legal education sponsor qualifies under this section only if it has been accredited by the Commission on Continuing Legal Education as an approved sub-stance abuse activity under Gov. Bar R. X.
