The Extended Bar Prep Study Groups (formerly Early Start) will meet on Wednesday evenings 6:30 PM – 9:30 PM and Saturday morning 10:30 AM – 12:30 AM in L-325.
The formal bar prep study period is from graduation through the bar exam – roughly 9 weeks. In those 9 weeks you need to (re)master 15-16 subjects, as well as learning how to write in a way that exploits the 2-3 minutes the grader spends reading your essay.
Many people find this is just not enough time (especially for the February bar exam – which includes a variety of holidays and time traditionally spent with families). These study groups let you extend your bar prep study period by starting a semester or two ahead of graduation.
The study groups are open to anyone who wants to join – no advance preparation required. I’ll bring outlines from the ASP resource room, and we’ll muddle through together – whether you’ve covered the material before or not. It’s a relatively painless way to get started writing essays – the most important thing you can do to prepare for the bar exam.
This week we’re writing a wills essay (Ohio bar exam essay from February 2010, question 5).
