3 new scholarship opportunities for University of Akron students. These opportunities are a great benefit for students and their families.

Our scholarships are respectively called “The Advocates Scholarship”, “Advocates Law Scholarship” and “Advocates Scholarship”, and they are designed to help with the higher education costs that students and their families have to face while furthering their education.  Click on the respective link for information on how and where to apply.

Here is a brief list of our requirements:

All 3 scholarship opportunities require a 300-500 word essay to be written, the topic question for the essay is different for each scholarship.

All 3 scholarships are $1000 offered biannually.

The deadlines for the scholarships are, for Fall Term: December, and for Spring Term: May

All students either prospective or current, who are enrolled in an accredited institution located within the United States may apply for these scholarships.

Please plan to attend one of two A.L.I.C.E. (active shooter) training sessions scheduled in September.  The sessions are scheduled on Tuesday, September 19th at 12:00-1:00 pm and Friday, September 29th at 11:00 am – 12:00 pm in Room 160.  We certainly hope that we never need to use any of this training at the law school, but it is valuable information to know where ever you are. Please consider attending one of these sessions.

Please join us for a retirement reception in honor of Professor Emeritus William S. Jordan III, former Associate Dean of the law school, on Wednesday, September 20, 5:00-6:30 in the Beatrice K. McDowell Commons. The law school enjoyed 32 years of Dean Jordan’s faithful service and he will be greatly missed. Please join us in celebrating with Dean Jordan.

Substantive work as well as some administrative duties.Opportunity to gain valuable court experience.  Hours are flexible. Will most likely NOT be required to write memoranda of law but will perform some motion practice.  Responsibilities will grow as clerk gains experience. Would like to keep this person until they pass the bar and are admitted Qualifications: 2L or 3L. Must have good research skills, both case law and general web research.
