Refunds

If you withdraw from class(es), you may receive a partial refund. Partial refunds are determined by the date of class withdrawal. If you drop a class on a class day, it is considered a completed day for the purposes of the refund calculation.

Important Note: Days are measured in actual days, NOT business day. All refund calculations are determined by class length percentage, not by class meetings attended or class meetings percentage. Class length is defined as the number of days between and including the first day of classes and the last instructional day of any given term/session (including weekend days and holidays).  Short classes are prorated based on class length and time before withdrawal. It may be necessary for you to drop the class before the class start date in order to receive a full refund.

College of Engineering Course–Invention to Market

Dr. Gopal Nadkarni in the College of Engineering is offering a course during the Fall 2016 semester that you might be interested in.  The course is “Discovery to Impact: How to take an Invention to Market.” This course focuses exclusively on the commercialization of university patents and customer discovery.  Just so you’re aware, Professor Gaughan will be offering the Entrepreneurship course again in Spring 2017.  Professor Gaughan’s course is different because his course focuses on the broad practice of entrepreneurship, the relation of entrepreneurship to common related legal issues (including all forms of IP), and the creation of for-profit and non-profit early stage entities.

For more information, please take a look at this informational handout (Discovery to Impact-Taking an Invention to Market Fall 2016) and the course description (UA Discovery to Impact – Course Description Flyer Fall 2016). If you’re interested in registering for Dr. Nadkarni’s course, please contact Dean Fuller (bfuller@uakron.edu) so you can fill out the correct forms and obtain the required permissions.

Friday Night Social at Baxters

The social at Baxter’s will be from 5:30-8PM on Friday, August 26th. This is simply an opportunity for incoming 1L’s to meet current students, for mentees to meet their mentors, and to get to know everyone in an informal setting. All current students are welcome to attend as well. Baxter’s has food and a full-service bar. Students are encouraged to attend for a laid-back evening to wrap-up orientation week and kick off the school year.

CQE Clinic Volunteer Training – Friday, August 26, 4:30pm – 6pm

Our next free Certificate of Qualification for Employment (CQE) clinic is Saturday, August 27, 2016!  We’re very excited to be providing opportunities for ex-offenders in Summit County to take a step toward gaining employment and independence!

We are looking for students to volunteer from 8:00am-12:45pm on Saturday, August 27, 2016.  The clinic will be held at the House of the Lord [1650 Diagonal Rd, Akron, OH 44320]. The time you volunteer can be applied toward your graduation requirement as pro bono limited means hours.

There will be a mandatory volunteer training on Friday, August 26, 2016 from 4:30-6:00pm for first timers. The time you are at training will count towards your pro bono limited means hours as well. For those who have completed the training once before, you are more than welcome to attend the training for a refresher. However, you may not count the training towards your pro bono limited means hours again.

If you’re interested in volunteering or have any questions, please e-mail Brittany at bfw7@zips.uakron.edu.  You can also learn more about the clinic at our website: http://www.uakron.edu/law/clinical/cqe-clinic.dot.

YOU MUST RSVP IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND THE CLINIC!!!
