LEGAL CLINIC ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR PAID POSITIONS – DEADLINE IS FRIDAY MAR. 30

The University of Akron School of Law Legal Clinic will have four to five paid positions open for the summer and next year 2012. The paid positions are as Directors of our Inmate Assistance Programs and as staff members for the Appellate Review Office. All students are invited to apply, including first year students. Persons chosen for these positions will be paid $7.70 per hour up to 20 hours per week during the school year and 30 hours per week during the summer. Students must take credit courses during the summer to qualify for employment.

People interested in developing interviewing, research, and writing skills should apply. Our Clinic graduates use their skills in civil and criminal contexts as Public Defenders, County Prosecutors, Legal Aid lawyers, judicial law clerks, and civil practitioners. We have a 100% employment rate within six months of graduation.

Volunteer Opportunity – Community Service Limited Means – Tuesday, May 8th

PROJECT HOMELESS CONNECT (PHC):   Tuesday, MAY 8, 2012

° Can you volunteer for this remarkable one-day, one-stop event designed to provide access to housing, services, and hospitality for people experiencing homelessness, loss of income, or financial difficulty?  

° The primary need is for “Chaperones” to escort guests throughout the Chapel as they receive their selected services.

° Hosted by the Akron/Summit County Continuum of Care for the Homeless, PHC will take place at The Chapel’s Akron Campus.

 

Training dates/times for NEW volunteers of PHC 2012 are:

  • Thurs, April 19th 6-7:30pm
  • Tues., April 24th 6-7:30pm
  • Wed., May 2nd 3-4:30pm

WHEN: Saturday April 7th, 2012

START/FINISH: LOCK 3 Downtown Akron

COURSE: The 5K course will run through downtown Akron and along the Towpath.

Water will be provided on the course and at the finish line.

SCHEDULE: Registration begins at 8am; Race begins at 9am; Awards at 10:30am

AWARDS: Top Three Overall Finishers (male & female), Fastest Lawyer (male & female), Fastest Law Student (male & female)
