The 2010 Loyola Patent Law Interview Program

The Loyola Patent Law Interview Program is a two-day interview program held in Chicago each summer that brings together patent law employers and law students from across the country to interview for summer associate positions and post-graduate employment. The 2010 Patent Law Interview Program will be held on Thursday, July 29 & Friday, July 30 at the Embassy Suites Chicago – Downtown/Lakefront at 511 North Columbus Drive in Downtown Chicago.

Each year roughly 1,500 law students register for the program, submit their resumes, and bid on interviews with the nation-wide employers that interest them. The program is entirely employer selected – which means that participating employers review the resumes submitted to them and choose the law students they are interested in interviewing at the program. Roughly half of the students registered for the program are selected for interviews each year.

Only law students are eligible to participate in the Patent Law Interview Program. It is not required that students be patent bar eligible to register for the program; however, many employers require patent bar eligibility as a qualification for bidding on interviews, and most employers strongly prefer patent bar eligible students. For more information on eligibility for the patent bar, please refer to the General Requirements Bulletin from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

The Career Planning Office will pay the $35/student registration fee.  However, each student is responsible for paying their own transportation, lodging, and meals.

Student registration will open on Monday, February 15th and close on Monday, March 8th.

The student registration link will be located at: http://www.luc.edu/law/career/Patent_Program_-_Stu.html

Check your profile on Westlaw and LexisNexis

At least once-a-year law students should update their profiles on LexisNexis and Westlaw.  Last fall, students’ University e-mail address changed to @zips.uakron.edu.   If you registered using the old address, the e-mail function in TWEN and Lexis Web Course software will not work properly.  This is particularly important if you are taking classes that use TWEN or Web Course.  The faculty may use the e-mail function but if you have not updated your profile you will not receive the e-mail.

Here is how you can update your profile on Westlaw and Lexis.

For Westlaw: Log into Westlaw http://lawschool.westlaw.com/ and just to the right of your name is the UPDATE link.  Click on that link to update your profile.

For LexisNexis: Log into LexisNexis http://www.lexisnexis.com/lawschool/ and click on the GET HELP tab.  At the next screen, click on UPDATE REGISTRATION INFORMATION.
