Executive Branch Position Bio

Chief of Staff

The Chief of Staff shall assist the President and the Vice President in the proper administration of USG and the Executive Branch; Specific duties and responsibilities of the office include, but are not limited to:

  • Attending all DLT as a non-voting member, unless otherwise excused and
  • attending all executive branch and executive cabinet meetings, unless otherwise excused.

Deputy Chief of Staff

The Deputy Chief of Staff shall assist the Chief of Staff with proper administration of USG and the Executive Branch. Specific duties and responsibilities of the office include, but are not limited to:

  • Attending all executive branch meetings.

Executive Project Manager

The Executive Project Manager(s) are tasked with executing #ZipsHeartbeat, a platform of ideas focused on redefining how we support our Zips community, address mental health, and look for ways to better communicate with students and faculty. Specific duties and responsibilities of the office include, but are not limited to:

  • Attending all executive branch and executive cabinet meetings, unless otherwise excused;
  • Devising and implementing strategies to address mental health and reduce food & housing insecurity, and
  • Implementing sustainable solutions to mental health and food & housing insecurity. 

Project Manager

The Project Manager(s) are tasked with helping the Executive Project Managers and Executive Branch Leadership to execute #ZipsHeartbeat, a platform of ideas focused on redefining how we support our Zips community, address mental health, and find better ways to communicate with both staff and faculty. The Project Manager(s) shall report directly to one, or both, of the Executive Project Manager(s). Specific duties and responsibilities of the office include, but are not limited to:

  • Attending all executive branch meetings, unless otherwise excused,
  • Assisting with strategies to address mental health and reduce food & housing insecurity and
  • Assisting with implementation of sustainable solutions to mental health and food & housing insecurity. 

Director of Finance

The Director of Finance is responsible for the proper allocation and records-keeping of Undergraduate Student Government funds. Specific duties and responsibilities of the office include, but are not limited to:

  • Attending all executive branch and executive cabinet meetings, unless otherwise excused;
  • Submitting quarterly reports to the USG President and Vice President detailing all USG spending and student organization allocations;
  • Creating and updating the guidelines for USG project funding requests and communicating this procedure to all members of USG,
  • Properly allocating funds to student organizations for projects, events, activities, and travel expenses;
  • Reviewing all student organization project proposals, travel packets, and funding requests, and allocating resources in accordance with University and USG policy;
  • Maintaining accurate records of all USG spending and student organization funding for the fiscal year; and
  • Working directly with student organizations to address questions and concerns.

Deputy Director of Finance

The Deputy Director of Finance is responsible for assisting the Director of Finance as assigned. Specific duties and responsibilities of the office include, but are not limited to:

  • Attending all executive branch meetings, unless otherwise excused; and
  • Assisting with the management of internal USG finances and processes. 

Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

The Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will work closely with the Executive Branch leadership to be a champion for diversity and inclusion at UA and also address equity across all groups of students at UA. Specific duties and responsibilities of the office include, but are not limited to:

  • Attending all executive branch and executive cabinet meetings, unless otherwise excused;
  • Devise and implement strategies and projects to enhance diversity and inclusion at UA, and specifically within USG.
  • Management of Diversity Committee,
  • Organize various student organizations’ participation in the committee, and
  • Utilize the committee to interact and collaborate with diverse student groups.  

Deputy Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

The Deputy Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will work closely with the Executive Branch leadership and the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to be a champion for diversity and inclusion at UA and also address equity across all groups of students at UA.  The Deputy Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion shall report directly to the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Specific duties and responsibilities of the office include, but are not limited to:

  • Attending all executive branch meetings, unless otherwise excused;
  • Assisting the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to devise and implement strategies and projects to enhance diversity and inclusion at UA, and specifically within USG; and
  • Assisting the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion with the management of the Diversity Committee.

Director of Events

The Director of Events will lead the planning and execution of various USG events, specifically events related to #ZipsHeartbeat. Specific duties and responsibilities of the office include, but are not limited to:

  • Attending all executive branch and executive cabinet meetings, unless otherwise excused;
  • Plan and execute events related to USG and #ZipsHeartbeat; and
  • Work with the Student Body President and Vice President to devise and implement strategies related to student engagement at UA. 

Event Coordinator(s)

The Event Coordinator(s) will assist with the planning and execution of various USG events, including events related to #ZipsHeartbeat. The Event Coordinator(s) shall report directly to the Director of Events. Specific duties and responsibilities of the office include, but are not limited to:

  • Attending all executive branch meetings, unless otherwise excused;
  • Assisting the Director of Events with the planning and execution of various USG events.

Director of Membership Development

The Director of Membership Development will build an engaged and connected Undergraduate Student Government to empower members to be their best and succeed. Specific duties and responsibilities of the office include, but are not limited to:

  • Attending all executive branch and executive cabinet meetings, unless otherwise excused;
  • Working with members of the organization to build stronger bonds between members in order to facilitate a mission-focused team;
  • Devising and implementing practices and strategies to better engage the organization;
  • Facilitating the personal and professional development of USG members; and
  • Assisting the Executive Branch leadership with the planning and execution of USG retreats.

Director of External Affairs

The Director of External Affairs will oversee all USG communications and marketing and use USG platforms to engage with students. Specific duties and responsibilities of the office include, but are not limited to: 

  • Attending all executive branch and executive cabinet meetings, unless otherwise excused; 
  • Creating USG marketing strategy and a social media identity; 
  • Assisting the Student Body President with all public relations activities; and 
  • Creating graphic and text-based content for social media, print, etc. 

Marketing Strategist(s)

The Marketing Strategist(s) will assist the Director of External Affairs with USG communications and marketing.   The Marketing Strategist shall report directly to the Director of External Affairs. Specific duties and responsibilities of the office include, but are not limited to: 

  • Assisting with the development of a marketing strategy; and
  • Assisting Director of External affairs with creating graphic and text-based content for social media, print, etc

Student-Athlete Liaison

The Student-Athlete Liaison will work with USG leadership to advocate on behalf of student athletes and increase student engagement with student athletes and athletic events. The Student-Athlete Liaison shall report directly to the President. Specific duties and responsibilities of the office include, but are not limited to: 

  • Devising and implementing strategies to improve attendance at Athletics events;  
  • Improving collaboration between USG and SAAC;  
  • Advocating on behalf of student athletes to the Student Body President; 
  • Attending all SAAC meetings. 

Greek Life Liaison

The Greek Life Liaison will interact with The Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life, IFC, PHC, and NPHC to facilitate positive relations with the greek community. Specific duties and responsibilities of the office include, but are not limited to: 

  • Attending all official IFC, PHC, NPHC meetings.
  • Improving collaboration between USG and Greek Life
  • Advocating on behalf of the greek community
