Springboard! Critical Maintenance

Danger IconITS must perform further critical maintenance on Springboard today, January 6th, beginning at 4:00 PM to restore the system to optimal operating levels. The file storage system has experienced unanticipated hardware failures. ITS staff are working closely with Dell to diagnose and resolve the problem.  We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and assure you that we are working as diligently and quickly as possible to repair the system so it is fully functional for the start of the semester. Thank you for your patience as we work to ensure the reliability of Springboard.  Regular updates will be posted to the Springboard! Blog.

Critical Springboard! Maintenance

Servers this afternoon (January 5th) beginning at 2:30 PM.  The system is nearing its capacity of file storage and must be expanded. Open Labs for Instructors

Information Icon Instructional Services in conjunction with Zip Support will once again offer open labs for instructors during the first week in January.

Members of Tier 2 and Tier 3 support will be available to help you jump start the implementation of your Springboard! Content. We will also provide multimedia support including Clickers, Elluminate, and CourseCast.

New this spring, we are bringing more open labs to more locations and have included offerings in Polsky, Bierce, and the Wayne Campus.

The end is near!

As we approach the end of the semester, please prepare to do the following:

  1. Calculate your Final Grades.
  2. Export your Gradebook data to a secure location.
  3. Copy your course Content to a new Spring course or to an archived copy.
  4. Compile your Discussions to a file you can print or archive.

Please review this detailed handout for the step-by-step instructions to complete the above tasks.

New Features Coming to Springboard!

NewAs part of a software upgrade, Springboard! will be gaining some new features and enhancements. In addition to enhancements to the look and feel of Springboard!, the upgrade will include:

  • Enhancements to accessibility and usability of Springboard!
  • Enhanced support for materials from publishers using the IMS Common Cartridge standard.
  • Enhanced Dropbox Submission settings.
  • Improved search function within the Learning Object Repository (LOR).
  • Enhanced metadata support within the LOR.
  • Creative Commons support within the LOR.
  • Import and export of ePortfolio items.
  • Support for third-party tools within the ePortfolio.

This upgrade will take place on Wednesday, May 13. Springboard! will be unavailable from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the upgrade process.

Introducing Impatica

NewImpatica for PowerPoint converts PowerPoint files into a compressed format that is optimized for streaming over the Internet. The Impatica file is typically 95% smaller than the PowerPoint HTML files.Impatica for PowerPoint supports most of the features of PowerPoint, including text, graphics, transitions, animation effects and, of course, narration.

At this time, Impatica is available to faculty/staff ONLY.

If you are interested in Impatica, please complete the Software Request Form to have the software pushed to your University-owned computer.

Introducing Respondus

NewRespondus (for Windows Only) is a powerful tool for creating and managing exams that can be printed to paper or published directly to Springboard! (D2L). Exams can be created offline using a familiar Windows environment, or moved from one eLearning system to another. The product also comes with access to over 1,000 Publisher Test Banks in Respondus format — FREE to instructors who adopt a participating textbooks.

At this time, Respondus is available to faculty/staff ONLY.
